Balancing Direction and Flow

by Jess on December 11, 2010

I was speaking with a friend today about clearly visualizing the future yet staying open to infinite possibilities. We visualize clearly in our minds what we want our lives to be like in love, career, family etc. but being rigid in this thinking can lead to disappointment. Are we so focused on the goal or vision that we don’t see the opportunities the Universe presents to us?

One of the yoga sutras came to mind: Sthira Suka Asanam, which literally means steady and strong yet relaxed and easy. It is the heart of the balance we all look for in yoga and in life. The balance between being strong in our poses without being rigid, steady in our breathing without being forceful. It’s that balance that I turn to when thinking of the future. Clear, steady direction but relaxed, allowing for the unfolding.

Yoga changes the life of human according to medical scientists, yoga therapy is successful because of the balance created in the nervous and endocrine systems which directly influences all the other systems and organs of the body.Yoga practice helps patients by enabling them to gain access to their own internal experience and increased self-awareness.

Wow, I never really thought about the importance of this posture. Next time I end a yoga class I will try to feel all aspects of this asana. Thank you for the insight. Namaste.

Whenever I sent an intention, I always say “This or something even better is now manifesting for my highest good.” I feel this covers it.

I look forward to reading more of your posts! Judie
